The Democratic Transition Initiative, (DTI) is a non-governmental organization that promotes the principles of local economic development, sustainable civil society, human/minority rights, and fights against xenophobia.

The organization was founded in 2002 on the heals of the USAID/OTI program with the same name. It picked up on the momentum of a nation-wide network of local non-governmental and media organizations; in addition, it has advanced the cooperation of these organizations with the government and governmental institutions at local, regional and national levels of then the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.

Vision

We view Serbia as a society with a developed civil sector, local communities, and equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their gender, ethnic and political background. We work to promote the idea of a democratic Serbia, whose citizens have capacities to participate in the European and global integration processes, and to fully adopt EU standards.

Mission

“DTI is committed to working with all governmental and non-governmental entities to achieve development of local communities, sustainable civil society, promotion of human and minority rights, and to fight against xenophobia in the Serbian society."

DTI will cooperate with donors, partner NGOs, government and governmental organizations, local governments, media and others that share the same values.

DTI will work on different projects and programs, implement different activities, always with the same purpose - contribution to the DTI mission.
